Mumbai: The University of Western Australia (UWA) has opened applications for its Mumbai and Chennai campuses as part of its first international expansion into India. This move makes UWA the first foreign university to establish two campuses simultaneously in the country, setting a new benchmark in India’s international education landscape.
With industry-aligned programs such as Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Business Management, and MBA, UWA aims to offer students a globally competitive education. Notably, students will be able to gain international exposure while staying in India, benefiting from exchange programs and global faculty.
UWA Vice-Chancellor Amit Chakma said, “The opening of applications for our campuses in India marks a significant milestone. We want Indian students to receive world-class education within their own country and connect with global opportunities.” He further added, “Through strong industry collaboration and practical learning, we are building an ecosystem that prepares students for the future.”
The Mumbai campus, located in Andheri, is set to commence in September 2026, while the Chennai campus will begin operations in March 2027. This initiative is seen as a major step toward making global education more accessible to Indian students.
